Here's what I have for you today...it's a scarf that is made out of any ol' tshirt you have laying around...it's better than making a scrap rag...

Recycled t-shirt scarf
DIY...RECYCLED T-SHIRT SCARF
First, for your SUPPLIES...super easy...a tshirt (or two), a rotary cutter (or you can use scissors...the cutter is just easier), and a mat for the cutter (if you use it).
Here we go...first take the cutter and slice right off the bottom edge (you know the one with the seams). You can either use it for something later or throw it away...it's NOT part of the long part of the scarf itself.
Take the cutter and cut strips of the tshirt...my strips are about 1/2 to 1/4 and they don't have to be exactly uniform. Keep them circular though, meaning don't cut at the seams on the side. You are going to cut through the two layers of the tshirt...Continue cutting all the way to the armpits.
After you have cut all your strips, gather them all up in your hand...you can do this in groups or as a whole...then grab the other end of the loop in your other hand and pull them as far as they'll go (caution...don't pull too hard as you might bust the seam). Basically what happens is they stretch and curl up on themselves so that your strips are almost circular themselves. Separate them as necessary so that they are stuck together.
This is what it looks like after it's stretched out (this is just a small section though).
Gather all of your strips up together and if you have a seamed shirt, match all the seams of one side up (that way you can cover them)...(Note...if you have a seamless shirt, this actually works better and you can just gather together at any point).
'Member that bottom seam?? Grab it and wrap it around this section...If you threw it away (like I did...lol I forgot)...grab a sleeve, cut a strip and cut it at the seam so it's a strip. Basically you are going to cover that seam and make it where all your strips hang together...at the end, you can do some super cool sewing if you are so inclined or you can just tie a knot (which is what I did)...you could probably use fabric glue if you wanted too...whatever works.
Here it is all layed out (and curled so you could see the whole thing)...You can do anything you want really...I've seen some where the person cut the seam and braided it and then recircled it...The possibilities are endless...You can also use two colors of tshirts and have a multi-colored scarf...
just a few of my favorite things...today
Just wanted to share a few of my favorite things today....my favorite things change from day to day, but these are the things I like TODAY...
There are several things in this picture that I like...Ocean Spray Sparkling Cranberry...people look at me funny 'cause it looks like an energy drink...but no I'm not exploding my heart...just drinking cranberry juice. Also, check out my new straw holder...I got it at Ross for $4...LOVE IT! (you can also see the corner of my pink coffee maker...love it always...not just today!)
Check out this picture frame! I found it today at Walmart for $6...I LOVE it!! (and I love Ellarie, who is in the picture from the pictures I took this weekend! LOVE that I got to hang out with her this weekend...hope to go back soon!)

Okay...so someone might stumble on this and say "hey that's my house!" Well, if it is your house, just rest assured that I like your house ;) Isn't it cute?? If I had money, I'd buy it! It's adorable...it's actually for sale, and I went on the realty site and looked at the inside and it's SUPER CUTE inside too...
One last thing I like, is this pink scarf. I wore it and got a lot of compliments...I made it...it was super easy...and I will show you on my next blog...which I might do tonight actually...
This blog is amazing...I LOVE it...pretty much today and always...check it out!
Ok...well that's what I like today...tomorrow, who knows? Enjoy tomorrow...xoxo

Tiptoe through the tulips
The Weekends are TOO short!!
We took her down to the tulips at a shopping center and had a little impromptu photo shoot. Their pictures are better than mine, but I caught several good ones. Some day I need to learn everything my camera can do...I'd like to learn to take amazing pictures and not just pretty good ones....but for now these will do...Besides with a subject like that, how can they not be good...even if they were bad ;)
as always, the weekends are too short though...I went to see my friend on Friday so I could get my CPR card (and hit up the casino)...bad news, I did not win anything (well except my CPR card)...And we stayed there too late and I was way tired driving to see my neice and her parents...
Spent Saturday there...well most of it...I kinda got a late start and didn't arrive til noon (we didn't get home from our gambling escapades until after 2:30...oops). That's the day we went to the tulips...she was amazed by these flowers that were bigger than she was. She was overwhelmed when she was sitting in the midst of them (2nd picture). But...she had a good time when she was in front of them...of course what you can't see is the "Keep off the grass" sign like 5 feet away...we like to live dangerously...and no one came after us. Besides only one or two tulips were harmed in the making of this photo shoot...not counting the one she gummed a little (lol).
Anyway...it was back to the grindstone today...oh boy was I tired...I didn't get home until 7:45pm and got into town in the midst of what had been a massive wildfire that hit the south side of my town...it is unclear as to whether or not my apartment was evacuated...the guy in the yard told me it was, but it appeared everyone was home...who knows. Anyway...there was quite a bit of damage from what I hear, but I haven't driven around to see...it doesn't seem right some how. Pray for the people who lost their homes or sustained property damage...and pray for RAIN! One elderly person said it is drier now than in the "Dirty 30s"...I don't know if this is true, but I might believe it.
Anyway...I got to bed a little late because of trying to figure out what was going on and making sure I wasn't in any immediate danger. So, I'm tired...exhausted is more like it...and it was a crazy busy day at the grind...but...my last official day is Friday...(even though I'm coming in Sunday so my buddy doesn't have to work alone)...then I start my new jobbie on Monday!! woohoo...excited. People keep asking...and yes, of course...I'm sad to leave the old job. But it's exciting too...it's a change of pace...and it must be what I'm supposed to do because I'm excited about the prospect of change (and if you know me, that's not normal...I don't like when people change things). So...old job, I'll miss you....old co-workers, I'm for sure hard-core miss you...but it's not like I'm dying...I'll be around. Besides, I'm retaining one weekend a month lol...so you can't even get rid of me completely...
for now...xoxo
(p.s.--I black & white-d (is that a word) those tulips in the 2nd picture just for fun...lest you think we stumbled on some crazy grey tulips...though that would be cool...just sharing)

flowers on a cold day
Well...the play is over. I don't go back to work til tomorrow, so I've been looking for something to do. Someone expressed interest in crochet hair flowers, so I have been trying to figure out different ones. Here's a few...I clipped them on a flower pot...even though it's really cold outside...it made it seem more springy. Enjoy...
...and while I was sticking things on clips, I had this that I tried to make last week from a DIY found on My Jellybean Garden blog...love that blog...she's so creative.
(Green and cream cotton yarn)
(This was one of the first, and is the biggest...it had a big opening in the middle, so I put a button on it.)
These little cotton guys got sewed onto an infant headband and a button added...I might have to try it out on some baby sometime soon ;)

wait?? that's it?
Well...it's over, I guess...Sunday matinee is done and that's it. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do now. I guess watch nighttime tv again?? Clean my house?? Sounds incredibly...non-fun.
Well...I guess I don't really have much to say this evening...so I think I'm going to go explore what my free time might have to offer me and get used to it again. I have a new project in the works...so maybe I'll show you that when I'm over being sad at the play being over lol...until next time.
One more picture for the road...
oh ya...did I forget to tell you?? Did you forget to go watch it?? I'm the killer (in the play)...and I'm not that sad about it either ;) LOL

two down...two to go...
LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL...
Well...opening night is done and gone...2nd night is in the books as well. We had an amazing audience tonight!! It always helps when they are so obviously enjoying the show. They were laughing all the way through...loudly. They almost got me on the applause for the ingredients lol...barely hung on. We did have some uh oh moments...some that we've never had before. It wasn't bad...it was just an off day, but overall it went well.
I am beat...exhausted...and dead tired...lol...it doesn't help that I contracted some kind of illness last week that doesn't want to give my lungs up without a fight...oh well...we're still trying to beat it...but I don't feel so bueno this evening.
Then, I discovered some unfortunate things had occurred while I was gone to the play at my house....but it doesn't bare mentioning and I'm over it now...and relocated to my mom's house, since she's gone anyway. (it's okay my house is still standing and stuff...and I'll go back there tomorrow...alone...without my furry friends company...they can stay here lol).
Anyway...I'm beat, as I said, so I'm going to head over to el sofa...hey...my mom has a better sofa anyway...and I'll catch up with you another day...perhaps tomorrow?? Perhaps not...we'll see...lots to do tomorrow.
If you haven't seen the show, you still have 2 more chances. Tomorrow (Sat) at 7;30 or Sunday at 2.
Hey...and comment me up down there...even if you're just saying hey what's up lol. (PS...I've enabled anonymous comments...lol I didn't know they weren't...just throw your name at the end.)

Opening night...and a little art lol
COLORED PENCIL DRAWING..
Well...I haven't done much today...tonight is opening night of "Death by Chocolate"...which is quite exciting :) I played with some colored pencils for a while and created the above (lol)...just thought I'd share it. It was kind of light, so hard to take a picture of.
In a couple of hours, I will grandma up for opening night of "Death by Chocolate"...it's the last play of the season. Kinda sad...but there are four fabulous nights (well three nights and a day really) to entertain the community. I am so glad that I got to be a part of all these productions this year, as it was so much fun and I learned a lot of different things.
I also spent about an hour at the local coffee shop, Urban Bru...enjoying some lunch and coffee and internet...it was very fabulous...I had the Death by Chocolate :) (It's named after our play as each one they sell donates $1 to the theatre).
Tomorrow...we shall do it again...only with company :) yay..it's fun alone, but more fun with friends!
AND IN OTHER NEWS (LOL)
I love being a part of the theatre...it's kind of a special group of people...and it takes all sorts to make it work.
If you haven't made reservations, you should come! It will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 and Sunday matinee at 2:00. For reservations call 580-338-0019.
In still other news, I got an official job offer
today...it's been unofficial...but now...yay! Paperwork Monday and a physical lol...but hopefully that will all go okay and we'll be good to go. I'm excited for a new adventure and to learn new things! But I will miss the old...but life is about changing and growing and moving on...Have a super day!!
